AEO Report Card

The AEO Report Card: What Grade Is Your Website Earning?

The AEO Report Card is Prospectr Digital's graded audit of how your website actually performs across the four surfaces where buyers now find answers — classic Google, Google AI Overviews, LLM assistants (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude), and the local pack — scored D to A across the criteria that determine whether engines cite you or your competitor. You get a letter grade per category, the evidence behind each grade, and the sequenced fix list to reach an A.

What we grade

Category What it measures
Answer extractability Can an engine lift a correct, self-contained answer from your pages? Answer-first structure, FAQ coverage, tables
Entity & identity Schema @graph, NAP consistency, GBP alignment, sameAs profile corroboration — does Google know who you are?
Technical foundation Speed/CWV, canonicals, sitemaps, AI-crawler access, redirect integrity
Topical coverage Do pages exist for the services, segments, and cities you actually sell? Where are the gaps your competitors own?
Proof & trust Reviews (volume, velocity, markup), case-study depth, E-E-A-T signals
Competitive position Who is currently the cited answer for your money queries, on all four surfaces

Most established service-business sites we audit start in the C–D range — usually strong on years-in-business trust signals and weak on extractability and entity structure, because their sites were built for a search engine that no longer decides alone.

What you get

A graded scorecard, screenshots/evidence per finding, a competitor citation snapshot, and a sequenced fix roadmap — not a generic "SEO issues found" PDF. If you want us to execute it, the roadmap is the statement of work. If you want to fix it yourself or hand it to your current agency, it works just as well; the grades are the grades.

From grade to shipped — how fast this moves

The report card only matters if the fixes ship. Our production system takes clients from grade to live rebuild in weeks, not quarters:

  • Freedom Flooring & Design: 93-page local topical map with 21 city pages and 420 FAQ answers; Search Console impressions per day up 182% and average position up 18 places in the first 89 days.
  • Star's Janitorial: 160-page bilingual AEO-first site designed, written, and launched on Astro/Amplify.
  • United Contract Services: full WordPress→Astro replatform of a 25-year-old site with a 1:1 redirect map and a controlled DNS cutover — modernized without losing the equity.

Every launch ships through a written 12-criteria cutover standard. That's the difference between "we did SEO" and an auditable build.

How is AEO different from SEO?

SEO optimizes to rank a link; AEO optimizes to be the answer — the source quoted in Google's AI Overview or named by ChatGPT. The disciplines overlap (both reward structure and authority), but AEO adds extractability, entity clarity, and machine-readable identity that classic SEO never required. Full explainer: What is AEO? →

We already have an SEO agency. Is this redundant?

No — the report card is diagnostic and surface-complete. Most SEO reporting covers one surface (organic rank). We grade four. Many clients use it to redirect their existing agency; some discover the gap is bigger than a redirect.

How fast can you fix a D?

Depends on scope, but the case studies above are the honest answer: full builds and migrations measured in weeks. The roadmap in your report card includes a sequenced timeline for your specific site.
